GMV

General overview

GMV is a privately owned technological business group with an international presence, offering services and products in very diverse sectors. SUGUS project, led by GMV, will be carried out within GMV´s GNSS Advanced User Segment (GUS) Division, which centralizes GMV’s background and experience in advanced GNSS applications and GNSS User Segment solutions. GMV has a long and deep expertise and knowledge in GNSS at system and user levels and for all market segments, including RPAS. During the last years GMV has been actively contributing to the introduction of EGNSS in RPAS, not only in technical topics but also in standardisation and operational aspects, and participating in relevant project such as EC´s EGNSS4RPAS and SESARJU´s DOMUS.

Main contribution to SUGUS

As Prime and Sole Contractor with the European Commission, GMV will be in charge of the overall project management under WP0000, including product assurance, configuration and documentation management, consortium management and technical coordination.

Within the other WP they will:

  • Be responsible for the EGNSS standardisation and regulatory aspects
  • Be responsible for WP3000 (Gap Analysis).
  • Be responsible for WP4000 (Impact Analysis in EGNSS service provision layer)
  • Be responsible for WP5000 (Development of EGNSS API).
  • Be responsible for WP6100 (Proof of concept experimentation) and corresponding EGNSS performance analysis (WP6200)
  • Contribute to technical aspects in WP7000 (Awareness and contribution to standardisation and regulation).

everis Aerospace, Defense and Security (EVADS)

General overview

Multinational group born in Spain with a commercial network around the world that provides global solutions for critical systems in the fields of Aeronautics, Space, Defence, Security and Cyber-security. Their broad experience not only in Consultancy and Project Management, but also in Unmanned Aerial Systems, Security and Cyberresilience and ATM, entitles EVADS as a relevant participant in the project. Everis Aerospace, Defense and Security (everis ADS) offers differential solutions integrating innovative technologies developed by them, by the SMEs they invest in and by the partners with whom they have strategic alliances. In 2014 NTT DATA acquires everis to form a large global company in the global “Global TOP5” of reference suppliers in the market of consulting services. Currently, everis ADS has about 300 employees, who focus their efforts on research and development to obtain innovative products and services.

Main contribution to SUGUS

Everis is responsible for the work and the coordination of the activities concerning the UAS operational aspects and in relation with U-Space services.

Within SUGUS project they will:

  • Be responsible for the UAS operational standardisation and regulatory aspects
  • Be responsible for the Advisory Board management (WP0200)
  • Be responsible for WP1000 (Review of on-going and past EGNSS projects).
  • Be responsible for WP2000 (UAS Operational Experience).
  • Be responsible for WP7000 (Awareness and contribution to standardisation and regulation).
  • Contribute to technical aspects in WP2000, 4000 and 5000

ESSP

General overview

ESSP is an experienced and dynamic company specialized in the operations and provision of satellite-based services for aviation. Our core activities are the operations and service provision of EGNOS, the European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service.
EGNOS is a satellite based augmentation system which delivers precise satellite positioning on top of GPS to make it suitable for safety critical applications such as landing aircrafts or navigating ships through narrow channels. The added value and use of EGNOS for drones is the next challenge to face. The EGNOS Service Provision contract is funded by the European Union and managed through the European Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) Agency (GSA), with a clear mandate to help foster the use of satellite navigation within Europe and particularly in the domain of aviation.

Main contribution to SUGUS

ESSP is responsible for the work concerning the EGNSS service provision aspects.

Within SUGUS project they will:

  • Be responsible for WP4200 (EGNSS Service provision).

Unifly

General overview

Unifly is the global leading supplier of UTM technology. Unifly’s award winning Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) platform is already in use all over the world. Unifly’s digital platform provides national and local authorities with the platform needed to identify and manage drone traffic in their area. Authorities can monitor and manage drone traffic in their airspace. Drone pilots can plan, get approval and check the legal status of their flight. To guarantee safe drone traffic, it is vital to know the exact position of drones. Unifly’s Blip is an electronic device that acts as a license plate for drones. This way drones integrate safely into the airspace. Unifly’s step-by-step approach to the implementation of UTM offers results quickly in an environment that can grow in scale and in functionality.

Main contribution to SUGUS

Unifly provides to the consortium their expertise and tools as UTM provider.

Within SUGUS project they will:

  • Contribute to the EGNSS API integration in UTM tool (WP5200)
  • Contribute to technical aspects in WP2000 and 6000

CATEC

General overview

FADA-CATEC counts with more than 12 years of experience developing technologies for drones/UAS. and also, integrating and demonstrating the developed technologies in realistic environments and increasing their TRL, with more than 25 researchers full time working on drone technology development.  On the other hand, FADA-CATEC has a strong activity related to the new European drone regulation and is actively collaborating in the definition of future industrial standards for UAS/drones. FADA-CATEC is a limited member of EUROCAE and participates in WG-105 (Unmanned Aircraft Systems), leading the SORA Focus Team. FADA-CATEC also counts with ATLAS which is a Test Flight Centre located in Villacarrillo (Jaen) which offers the international aerospace community an aerodrome equipped with excellent technological-scientific facilities and airspace ideally suited to the development of experimental flights with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAS/RPAS). ATLAS has excellent weather conditions with more than 300 operation days per year, and also a 30×35 segregated airspace (up to 5,000 feet) allowing BVLOS flights to be carried out under current Spanish and new European regulations. Main contribution to SUGUS

CATEC provides the consortium their experience in UAS and the means to perform the proof of concept campaigns in a complex environment.

Within SUGUS project they will:

  • Be responsible for WP6300 (Risk and Security Analysis).
  • Contribute to the proof of concept experimentation campaign (WP6100)
  • Contribute to technical aspects in WP2000

VVA

General overview

Whereas our track record is particularly strong within the Single Market and the Digital Single Market, the Market unit of VVA Brussels has an exhaustive track record focusing on “telecoms, digital and space” in which we anticipate market change and help design responses that foster growth and innovation throughout a wide portfolio of studies for clients ranging from the European Commission and the European GNSS Agency (GSA) as well as Member States and private partners.
Over the past couple of years, VVA Brussels has been involved in various UAV-related projects for different clients. There has been a project on the mapping, quantification and forecasting of UAV service revenues at the level of the EU28 for the GSA which focused on market segments such as agriculture, surveying and logistics amongst others. A study for the UAE on the market sizing of the UAV market and the required allocation of spectrum for the command and control communications. Finally, VVA Brussels recently concluded an economic benefit assessment of EGNSS for UAV operations in the frame of a larger European Commission study assessing the benefits of EGNSS standardisation for UAV operations.

VVA is responsible for the work concerning market analysis and estimation of business, social and economic benefits and impacts.

  • Be responsible for WP6400 (Cost Benefit Analysis).
